BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – The central Mountain girls’ soccer team hosted back yard rival Bald Eagle Area at Malinak Stadium Saturday afternoon and the first half was played to a 0-0 draw. BEA would make some second period adjustments to earn a 3-0 win.
The Lady Eagles dominated in shots on goal, 18-4 and corner kicks, 12-0. Avery Baker had all four shots for CM.
Zoey McHenry, Addison Proctor and Emily Shields had one goal each for BEA.
Rachel Veneziano had 4 saves for BEA, Hailey Swortwood 16 saves and Riley Swortwood earned a save while filling in for her sister who was tending to a minor injury.
The highlight of the game was a pregame observance of the battle Central Mountain freshman Wildcat soccer player, Ben Fortescue who is fighting Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Both teams wore purple armbands with #28 on them to support Fortescue’s effort. Donations were collected by both teams to aid in offsetting the expense of fighting the disease.
Central Mountain will next host Selinsgrove on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2019.
