Wildcats Host Shik for Homecoming (Live Video Stream)
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – This Friday night is Homecoming at Central Mountain High School and accompanying the selection of a homecoming queen and king, there will be a football game between two teams with winless records, the 0-5 Wildcats and the 0-5 Shikellamy Braves.
Friday night looks to the best opportunity for Central Mountain to secure win number one. But Shik most likely views the game the same way. Both programs have been struggling, both coming off 1-9 marks in 2018. In fact, the Braves’ last win was by a 13-3 score in Sunbury a year ago. They’ll bring a 9-game losing streak to Malinak Stadium. The Wildcats’ last win was over Mifflinburg last October, CM’s losing streak at six games going into Friday.
Shik last Friday fell at Jersey Shore by a 39-8 score. The 3-2 Bulldogs opened up a 33-0 halftime lead and coasted home. The Braves’ only points came on a third period safety and a 38-yard touchdown pass from backup quarterback Mason Brubaker to John Peifer with 2:20 remaining in the game. Shik did put up 275 yards of offense, led by quarterback Drew Balestrini’s 105 yards passing on 8 completions in 24 tries, along with three interceptions. The Brave defense was pierced by ‘Shore quarterback Tanner Lorson who threw for 214 yards on a 10-for-14 night, with three touchdowns and one interception.
Shikellamy’s most competitive game was its opener, a 13-9 loss to Danville. They are averaging 7.6 points a game, compared to Central Mountain’s 11.8 ppg.
The Wildcat offense has displayed some improvement in recent games and for several minutes into the second quarter, the underdog ‘Cats went toe-to-toe with undefeated Clearfield last Friday night, but ultimately the Bison had too much offense, putting up 28 unanswered points on the way to a 42-20 win.
The record-online will offer live audio stream of the game with John Lipez and Tom Elling offering up the call to bring you all the action. The stream will go live approximately 15 minutes before kickoff.
