Altoona Rolls over Lady ‘Cats, 6-0
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – After picking up a well deserved 3-2 road at DuBois on Saturday, the Lady Wildcat soccer team had high hopes of turning the corner to success on the pitch as they hosted District 6 foe, Altoona. Those hopes were dashed tonight as the Lady Mountain Lions scored early and often in the first period for a 6-0 runaway win over Central Mountain.
Altoona hit their first goal just under 10 minutes into the game, then proceed to amass 18 more shots on gaol with the Lady ‘Cats only coming up with 4 shots, 3 from Avery Baker and one from Kylie Quiggle. The Lady Mountain Lions also oupaced their hosts on corner kicks, 9-0.
As noted, the CM keepers had plenty of work tonight with starter, Hailey Swortwood makes 9 saves in the first period and Madison Briggs working 8 more saves in the second period.
The loss takes the Lady Wildcats to 1-7 on the season.
Next up for the Lady ‘Cats is a road trip to Montoursville on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019.
