Seals Drop Wildcats, 6-0

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – The drinking water in the Selinsgrove Area School District must have been blessed by the soccer gods because the Seals have dominated Central Mountain over the past two days.

On Wednesday in Selinsgrove, the Lady Seals dispatched a depleted Lady Wildcat squad, 8-0, tonight at Malinak Stadium, the Selinsgrove boys’ team put up six unanswered goals on the ‘Cats for a big PHAC win.

The Seals put up their first goal on CM just short of 10 minutes into the contest and built their lead from there to hold a 4-0 advantage at intermission.

In the second period, it was more of the same with Selinsgrove forcing play in the Wildcat defensive end of the field, tacking on two more scores for the final 6-0 win. The Seals’ effort was highlighted by relentless pressure and following through on second and third attempts on scoring opportunities. Most of those opportunities were set up by well placed corner shots.

Central Mountain did have their opportunities to get back into the game, though, those chances came less often than desirable and the ‘Cats were unable to capitalize on them.

Selinsgrove outpaced Central Mountain 15-5 in shots on goal and 5-2 on corner kicks.

Greg Walizer earned 7 saves on the night for the Wildcats who drop to 3-4 overall, 3-2 in the PHAC

Central Mountain will next travel to Jersey Shore on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2019.
