Wildcats, Seals Battle to 0-0 Tie
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – Central Mountain and Selinsgrove battled for a full 100 minutes on the pitch ending in a 0-0 tie. Both teams played aggressively on offense and both teams were extremely stingy on defense.
Statically, Selinsgrove did have an edge in offense with a 20-0 advantage in shots on goal and a 3-1 edge in corner kicks, but the Wildcats had the edge in defense with Brody Baker standing tall for 20 saves on the night, refusing to allow the Seals to score.
Selinsgrove tried to keep the pace of the game by attacking without hesitation but the ‘Cat defensive front held strong managing to stifle those efforts just enough to keep Selinsgrove off balance.
In overtime, both squads threatened often but neither team could find the back of the net. Play was very aggressive with CM hit for 10 fouls to the Seals 7 fouls. Each team had a player receiving a yellow card infraction for being a bit too aggressive.
The game was also senior night where the Wildcats honored 3 players and a manager for their contributions to the program. Those seniors were Bailey Heaton, Bryce Wandell, Christian Girton and Brody Baker.
Central Mountain will next travel to Jersey Shore, Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016.
