Wildcats take Third Place at Commissioner Cup
WOODWARD TOWNSHIP – Central Mountain (1-1) boys’ soccer got off to a good start with a morning 2-0 victory over Huntingdon in the Commissioner’s Cup tournament held at West Branch Soccer Fields, Saturday.
The Wildcat’s Bryce Wandell scored both goals for CM off corner kicks by Joseph Moore.
Central Mountain led the Bearcats in all respects 10-7 shots on goal, 4-0 in corner kicks. Brody Baker had 4 saves at goal to preserve the shutout for the ‘Cats.
In the afternoon championship round, the Wildcats faced a tougher Bloomsburg squad, falling 2-0 to the Panthers.
Bloomsburg dominated in the final with 20 shots on goal and only 10 for the Wildcats though the two teams tied with 3 corner kicks each. Central mountain also recorded 15 saves in the game.
Central Mountain placed third in the tournament based upon goal differential rules after Selinsgrove defeated Huntingdon 5-0 in their afternoon game.
