It’s Official; Election Night Results Stand
LOCK HAVEN — The official tabulation from the Nov. 3 election has been completed and the unofficial election night results stand, although some of the final numbers have been revised.
Clinton County voter registrar Maria Boileau this week released the tally after the official tabulation began last Friday. Those results did show a slight spike in the county voter turnout, increasing to 37.55 percent, 7,696 county residents going to the polls out of 20,493 eligible to do so.
Among close races, the margin in the race for mayor of Lock Haven remained unchanged from election night. The initial tally that night had council member Bill Baney besting fellow council member Rick Conklin by 14 votes, 555 to 541. The official tally stayed at a 14 vote difference, Baney with 580, Conklin with 566.
The closest local race was for Pine Creek Township supervisor. Incumbent Democrat Dennis Greenaway retained his seat over Republican Bryan Poorman. Election night tally was Greenaway 349, Poorman 342. The official count put the final at Greenaway 359, Poorman 344.
In the contested race for Keystone Central School District’s Region VIII, Democrat Jeff Johnston slightly increased his margin of victory over Republican Bo Miller, Johnston with 549 votes to Miller’s 506; that margin had been 40 votes election night.
Johnston, a former Keystone Central elementary school principal, had most recently been superintendent of the Canton School District. He will be administered the oath of office at the school board’s annual reorganizational meeting set for Thursday, Dec. 3 at Central Mountain High School.
Johnston had been congratulated on his Nov. 3 win by acting board president Butch Knauff at last week’s board meeting. Region VIII has been without a representative since former board president Jack Peters had been defeated in the May primary and subsequently resigned from the board. A permanent board president is also to be selected at the December meeting.
