Lady ‘Cats Edged by State College 1-0
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – Central Mountain girls’ soccer has a long and stories rivalry with District 6 foe, State College. The latest chapter of that saga was written Saturday afternoon at Malinak Stadium with the guest Lady Little Lions managing a 1-0 win.
The Lady ‘Cats played well in the afternoon heat and humidity battling a very contentious opponent. The defense, led by first-year goal keeper, Emily Strouse, who earned double-digit saves on the day, kept State College at bay for most of the contest.
Much of the game was a never ceasing defensive struggle played in the center of the pitch with both teams finding a way to deter each other from scoring.
State’s lone score came late in the game with just over 15 minutes remaining in the contest. Although CM had opportunities offensively, they couldn’t manage a score of their own.
