Moore and Strickland reach milestones, Men’s Wrestling shines at Davison Duals
DAVIDSON, N.C. – Lock Haven men’s wrestling head coach Scott Moore and senior Gable Strickland both went over 100 wins in their careers as the Bald Eagles finished 3-0 at the Davidson Duals on Friday, Jan. 16.
The Haven went a perfect 3-0 with victories over Brown (29-12), Presbyterian (53-0) and North Dakota State (18-15).
With the clean sweep on the day, the Bald Eagles improved to 7-3 on the season and will enter the heart of their Mid-American Conference (MAC) schedule riding a five-match win streak.
The Haven racked up four falls, eight tech falls and two major decisions on a day full of standout performances.
Moore (100-84) became the fifth head coach in program history to reach 100 victories, doing so in under 13 full seasons.
Strickland went 3-0 on the day to go over 100 victories in his career at 133 pounds. Strickland opened the day with back-to-back tech falls vs. Brown and Presbyterian, before ending the day with a bang with an upset victory over No. 31 Tristan Daugherty (North Dakota State) with a dramatic 1-0 decision.
No. 19 Wyatt Henson also finished 3-0, including a pair of tech falls, pushing his season total to eight.
Nick Stampoulos (157) rounded out the Bald Eagles with victories in every match, as he went 3-0 with a fall (2:18) and a pair of decisions.
After moving up to No. 20 in the national rankings at 149, Lucas Kapusta recorded a major decision and tech fall on the afternoon to improve to 15-3 on the season.
Curtis Nelson (125), Avery Bassett (174) and Sam Gautreau (184) also won at least two matches on the afternoon.
