Kapusta continues to rise in Men’s Wrestling National Rankings
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Lucas Kapusta of the Lock Haven men’s wrestling team continued his steady climb up the InterMat Men’s Wrestling National Rankings when the organization released its latest poll on Tuesday afternoon.
After starting the season unranked, Kapusta has made a steady climb in each ranking and comes in at No. 20 at 149 pounds.
Wyatt Henson, who was ranked No. 29 to start the year, remained at No. 19 at 141 pounds for the second straight week.
Recent Outings
The Bald Eagles (4-3 overall, 1-0 MAC) went 2-0 at the Journeymen Armbar at the Armory on Jan. 4 with convincing victories over Binghamton (27-9) and Princeton (28-6).
Henson and Kapusta both went unbeaten in the pair of duals to improve to 14-3 and 11-2, respectively.
Kapusta earned an upset victory over Princeton’s No. 9 Elijah Rivera with a 5-2 decision. He also earned a decision vs. Binghamton to improve to 13-3 on the year.
Henson earned a pair of bonus-point wins with a tech fall over Binghamton’s Ryan Hartung (22-5, 5:07) and a major decision over Princeton’s Matthew Martino (21-10).
The Bald Eagles followed with a strong showing at the Franklin & Marshall Open, where they finished with three placewinners, despite giving several starters the tournament off.
Ousmane Duncanson (165) went 5-1 to lead the way with a second-place finish, while Nick Stampoulos (157) and Nick Kunstek (165) placed third and sixth, respectively.
Davidson Duals (Friday, Jan. 16)
The Bald Eagles are set to travel to Davidson, North Carolina to compete in the Davidson Duals on Friday, Jan. 16.
The Haven will take on North Dakota State (10 a.m.), Brown (12 p.m.) and Presbyterian (2:30 p.m.).
