LHU Women’s Basketball closes 2025 with victory over Penn State-Altoona

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven women’s basketball team closed the book on 2025 with a 56-51 victory over non-conference opponent Penn State-Altoona at home on Tuesday and will head into the New Year riding a three-game winning streak.

With the victory, the Bald Eagles closed out 2025 with three straight victories, dating back to Dec. 20, to improve to 6-4 overall. The Lions fell to 6-5 on the year.

However, the Lions held 17-15 and 11-10 advantages in the second and third period to trail by just one (42-41) heading into the final 15 minutes.

The Bald Eagles bounced back thanks to a strong defensive effort in the fourth quarter and held Altoona to just 22 percent (4-of-18) shooting from the floor to close out the game on a 14-10 run to seal the victory.

Neither team had a strong shooting night with Lock Haven (33 percent) holding a slim advantage in made field goals (20-18) and converted free throws (12-10).

Rhyln Rouse led all scorers with 18 points on 7-of-10 shooing and added 10 rebounds to secure a double-double.

Jenadia Jordan and Alana Robinson rounded out the Bald Eagles in double-figures, finishing with 14 and 10 points, respectively. Jordan and Robinson also finished with nine rebounds each, while Jordan dished out a game-high nine assists and Robinson blocked two shots and forced two steals.

Madeline Evans added nine rebounds and Nufi Nemale-Djiegoue knocked down a pair of clutch three pointers.

Lock Haven returns to action Saturday, Jan. 3 (1 p.m.) and will travel to Gannon for its final Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East vs. West game of the season.

The Bald Eagles will open Eastern Division play on Wednesday, Jan. 7 at 5:30 p.m. at Shepherd.
