Wildcats Edged by South Williamsport, 3-2
SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT – The Central Mountain boys tennis team came up just short on Thursday afternoon, falling 3-2 in a competitive match against South Williamsport Area.
The Wildcats picked up both of their points in singles play. At No. 1, Joey McCluskey cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win over Wyatt Robbins, while Tim Brinker followed with a strong 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 2 over Swayer Fry. Wesley Cowart competed hard at No. 3 singles but fell 4-6, 3-6 to Carson Harris.
In doubles action, Brayden Spedding and Mitchell Borges dropped a tight opening set in a tiebreak (7-2) before falling 0-6 in the second to Lucas Bower and Dylan Webb at the top spot. The No. 2 team of Ben Brinker and Owen Stringfellow fell 2-6, 2-6 to David Miller and Levi Jackson.
Now 1-4 on the season, Central Mountain will look to bounce back when they host Selinsgrove Area on Wednesday, April 2.
