LHU Men’s Soccer soars to 3-0 victory over Seton Hill
LOCK HAVEN – In a match featuring the top two teams in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division, the first-place Lock Haven men’s soccer team took down second-place Seton Hill in convincing fashion, 3-0, on Wednesday afternoon (Oct. 16) at Hubert Jack Stadium.
With the victory, The Haven extends its first-place lead in the PSAC West and improves to 6-4-1 overall and 4-1 in the division. Seton Hill falls to 7-3-2 overall and 2-2-1 in conference.
Lock Haven took a 1-0 lead just 17 minutes into the contest, after Kade Black beat the Seton Hill keeper on a 1-on-1 fast break, after a perfect set up from Connor Swope and Duc Do. The goal was the first of the season for Black, while the assists were the team-leading sixth for Swope and first for Do.
The Haven didn’t waste time extending its lead to 2-0, after Austin Kravetz fired into an open net from 10-yards out following a rebound off a shot from Black. The goal, was Black’s third point of the match, coming in a span of two minutes.
Lock Haven goalkeeper Ethan Beck and the Bald Eagles’ defense secured a shut out in first half to head into the break leading 2-0.
In the second half, The Haven extended its lead to 3-0 after Billy Lawrence joined in on the scoring with goal off an assist from Graham Thurley in the 51st minute.
In net, Beck and Brady Freiwald combined for the shutout. Beck made five saves and improved his keeper record to 4-2, while Freiwald added a save.
On the attack, Lock Haven fired off 15 shots, led by two shots on goal by each scorer (Lawrence, Black and Kravetz).
