Central Mountain Girls Soccer Earns First Win
JERSEY SHORE-The Lady Wildcat Soccer team made the short trek down Route 220 to face off against the Lady Bulldogs of Jersey Shore in a crucial PHAC divisional match. Both teams, hungry for their first wins of the season, battled in a tightly contested game that remained scoreless for much of the contest.
The breakthrough came from Central Mountain’s Sophomore duo, Leah Ferrar and Leah Karstetter. Ferrar received the ball out wide and delivered a perfect pass to Karstetter, who skillfully evaded her defender and powered a left-footed shot into the net. It was a momentous occasion for both players, with Ferrar earning her first varsity assist and Karstetter securing her first varsity goal.
Freshman Evelyn Nestor made her debut as a starting center back, and Sophomore goalkeeper Cora Seyler was stellar between the posts, securing her first shutout of the season. Seyler’s clutch saves earned her “Man of the Match” honors, as she protected the slim lead for the Lady Wildcats said head Coach Ryan Veltri.
Central Mountain nearly extended their lead in the second half with Sophomores Harper Conklin and Cayman Hill coming agonizingly close to scoring.
“A big win on the road, the Lady Wildcats were able to rebound from a tough loss earlier in the week showing much growth and attitude.” Veltri continued. With the win, the Lady Wildcats will carry newfound momentum into their next game—a non-league matchup against Dubois on Monday.
