Paddles and Plans: Pickleball Tournament and Community Feedback Event to be Held at Hanna Park September 8, 2024

By Emily Wright

LOCK HAVEN— Draw up your serve – and your ideas – for the future of Hanna Park, which will be a hub of excitement and civic engagement as the City of Lock Haven teams up with Lock Haven Area Pickleball to host a pickleball tournament on Sunday, September 8, at 1:00 p.m.

The double-elimination competition will feature 16 teams who will battle it out on the court until a champion is crowned. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams, adding an extra layer of excitement to the event. Lock Haven Area Pickleball will also be holding a basket raffle to support their organization.

With limited spots remaining, anyone interested in participating in the tournament is invited to sign up by visiting the pickleball tournament registration website through the link below.

The day’s activities will extend beyond just pickleball— while teams take to the courts, City staff will be on hand to engage with community members about the park’s future. Hanna Park is next in the queue for improvements, and city officials are eager to gather input from residents to support upcoming grant applications for 2025. Residents who wish to share their ideas are encouraged to come to the pickleball tournament, and anyone who is unable to attend in person can provide their input about the future of Hanna Park online through the city’s Civil Space survey linked below.

In a press release Thursday afternoon, City Planner Abbey Roberts emphasized the importance of community feedback in shaping the park’s redevelopment and securing the necessary funding. She invites residents with questions or comments to contact her directly by emailing aroberts@lockhavenpa.gov or calling 570-893-5903.

Whether you’re a seasoned pickleball player or a community member with a vision for the future of Hanna Park, September 8 promises to be a day of both competition and collaboration in Lock Haven.
