LHU Lacrosse rolls to 10th win of season, tops IUP 13-9
LOCK HAVEN– Behind a total team effort, the Lock Haven lacrosse team picked up its 10th win of the season, thanks a thrilling 13-9 win over visiting IUP (4-6, 3-2 PSAC West) today (Saturday, April 6) at home in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division action.
With the win, the Bald Eagles improved to an impressive 10-1 overall and The Haven is 5-1 in PSAC West play.
The 5-1 PSAC West mark helps Lock Haven remain at the top of the Western Division standings.
The victory also extended Lock Haven’s win streak to three games and the Bald Eagles moved to 4-1 at home this season. It also secured Lock Haven’s first 10-win season since 2018.
Seven different players scored for Lock Haven, the defense stood strong throughout and goalkeeper Dana Mirigliano (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) finished with a notable 13 saves.
Gabby Gunnip (Elbridge, N.Y./Jordan Elbridge) and Makayla Kelly (Kennett Square, Pa./Kennett) each netted hat tricks, and Abby Katrinak (Strongsville, Ohio/Strongsville) and Nadia Baskot (Damascus, Md./Damascus) both scored twice to power the attack.
Gunnip, Kelly, and Katrinak all finished with four-point games as did Emma Williams (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) who had one goal and three assists. Josey Shaffer (Westminster, Md./Manchester Valley) and Kaitlyn Collins (Ringwood, N.J./Lakeland Regional) each scored once.
Mackenna Brown (Rochester, N.Y./Aquinas Institute) led a strong defensive effort with three caused turnovers and two ground balls.
