LHU’s Gunnip named Women’s Lacrosse PSAC West Athlete of the Week
LOCK HAVEN – After leading the Lock Haven lacrosse team to a perfect 2-0 week, Gabby Gunnip (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) was tabbed Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday afternoon (March 12).
Gunnip is the second Bald Eagle to bring home an Athlete of the Week honor this season, earning her first on offense. Mackenna Brown (Rochester, N.Y./Aquinas Institute) claimed the PSAC Athlete of the Week honor for the Bald Eagles this season, as she won the defensive award during week one.
The sophomore attacker put up 11 points this week, as she netted eight goals and dished out three assists to lead the Bald Eagles to a pair of victories.
Gunnip started the week by powering the Bald Eagles past Wilmington (Del.), 14-12, on Wednesday with a five-goal game.
In Lock Haven’s thrilling 12-11 victory over D’Youville on Saturday, Gunnip found the back of the net three more times and dished out three assists.
The Bald Eagles are off to a 4-0 start for the first time since 2016.
The Bald Eagles return to action on Friday, March 15 at 2 p.m. when they travel to Frostburg State for a non-conference game.
