Obituary – Florence A. (Anderson) Shearer
Florence A. (Anderson) Shearer, 96, of Westport passed away Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.
Born December 31, 1926, in Bitumen, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Elsa (Jern) Anderson.
Florence was married on December 16, 1945, to Thomas F. Shearer. They celebrated 73 years of marriage together. He died April 25, 2019.
She was the Postmaster for the Westport Post office for 44 years and retired in 2004.
Florence was a member of Grace Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, watching and feeding the birds. She was a 1944 graduate of Renovo High School.
Surviving are two sons, Harry A. (Colette) Shearer of Wanette, OK and Thomas F. (Barbara) Shearer of Farwell and two daughters; Alice Marie (Mark) Peterson of Cedarville, OH and Mary Ellen (Sam) Nevel of Centre Hall.
10 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
Along with her husband she was preceded in death by a brother Harry Anderson a sister Joyce Durkin and three grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at the Grace Baptist Church, North Bend with Pastor Mahlon Nevel and her grandson David Peterson officiating.
Friends and relatives will be received from 1:00 – 2:00 at the church on Tuesday.
Burial will follow at North Bend Cemetery.
