Clinton jobless rate shows improvement
HARRISBURG, PA – Clinton County’s unemployment rate for September improved slightly, according to information released Tuesday by the state Department of Labor & Industry.
The county’s jobless rate was 4.2% for September, as compared to 4.4% in August. The number was 4.7% one year ago. The most recent numbers indicate that an estimated 700 county residents are unemployed.
Chester County had the lowest unemployment rate out of the state’s 67 counties at 2.6%. Clinton’s 4.2% tied for 47th and the highest number was 5.6% in Forest County.
For the week ending October 14, Clinton County had 23 initial unemployment benefit claims, which was similar to numbers documented in mid-October 2022. The continued claims number for the same week was 197, up from 152 one year ago. Of the 197 continued claims, 53% of them were male, and 20% were in the manufacturing sector.
