Beech Creek Man to Prison for Assault on State Trooper

LOCK HAVEN, PA – Vincent Anthony Riggs Mauck, 31, of Beech Creek, was sentenced to prison earlier this week for aggravated assault on a police officer, a second degree felony.

Clinton County President Judge Craig Miller sentenced Mauck to the Clinton County Correctional Facility for 11.5 to 24 months. Mauck was also ordered to pay all fines and costs associated with the case.

On Nov. 2, 2019, authorities said, state troopers made a traffic stop for a possible DUI. The police report said the female driver struck a curb as she attempted to turn and pull into the Beech Creek Uni-Mart parking lot at 1:24 a.m. As police approached the vehicle, Mauck, a passenger, quickly exited the vehicle. Police instructed Mauck to return to the vehicle but Mauck refused, and used two hands to shove a trooper in the chest as he continued toward the store. As the trooper grabbed a hold of him, Mauck reached back with a closed fist and struck the trooper on the left side of his face. The trooper responded with a single blow that dropped Mauck to the ground. Mauck briefly struggled on the ground as he was placed in handcuffs. Police said Mauck screamed at the arresting troopers that he didn’t do anything wrong. When he was told that he just punched a trooper in the face, he denied doing so.

The entire incident was recorded on the dash camera of the patrol vehicle. The trooper was not seriously injured and did not require medical attention. The driver of the vehicle was charged with DUI.
