CM’s Lindsay sweeps to District 6 AAA tennis title
ALTOONA, PA – Central Mountain’s sensational tennis player, Addison Lindsay, on Wednesday powered her way to the District 6 AAA title. The Lady Wildcat freshman took three matches over two days, all in straight sets, to claim the crown and remain undefeated on the year.
Lindsay, the top seed, took the title on Wednesday with a 6-0, 6-1 win over #2 seed Crosby Denis of Hollidaysburg. She took her semifinal with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Megan Ferris of Hollidaysburg and her initial contest by a 6-0, 6-0 score over Courtney Irwin of Altoona.
With the victory Lindsay advances to the PIAA championships in Hershey Nov. 3 and 4.
Her district win came five months after older brother David Lindsay claimed the boys’ district title in Altoona last spring. David Lindsay now owns three district titles in his first three years of competition. He was the PIAA champion in 2022 and state runner-up in 2023.
The Central Mountain program had two entrants at the district tourney. Teresa Temple lost to Bella Graham from Altoona, 6-1, 6-1. CM coach Tom Zettle said, “This match was a lot closer than the scores indicate. Teresa made a strong effort as she has been dealing with some shoulder pain.”
