Bucktail tennis reaches milestone in 3-2 win over Montgomery

By Bees O’Brien

MONTGOMERY, PA –  To say that Bucktail tennis coaches Alison Heiser and Dan Heiser were extremely positive for the struggling program when they took over in 2007 would be a huge understatement.

Bucktail has since won multiple Northern Tier League titles and is currently the defending Mid Penn Conference champions. The Heiser’s have led them to multiple District IV playoff appearances, home playoff matches and playoff victories.

Bucktail is an incredible 200-70 since the Heisers took over a program that was on the brink of obscurity. Now Bucktail is constantly one of the most winning programs amongst all of varsity sports in Farwell.

On Monday night the coaches reached another milestone, match win number 200.

Alexis Lowery and Gigi Balchun picked up singles wins and the undefeated duo of Eva Sockman and Kendall Wagner remained perfect as Bucktail knocked off Montgomery 3-2.

The victory improved the Lady Bucks to 10-0 and 3-0 in conference play.

Bucktail will hit the road Tuesday and travel to Wellsboro and face the Lady Green Hornets. Match time is set for 4 p.m.
