Roll out the barrel …
Oktoberfest at Good Neighbor Craft House
By Christopher Miller
HYNER, PA – The sites, sounds, and smells of Germany will descend on the Hyner area on Saturday, September 30.
From 2 to 8 p.m., Good Neighbor Craft House is planning a German-themed festival modeled after the Oktoberfest celebration in Germany.
“We will be featuring a German-style menu with pork schnitzel, beef rouladen, currywurst, bavarian style pretzels with a homemade mustard, sauerbraten, and other treats,” said Chef Vinnie Kishbaugh. “We will be featuring beers from a brewery in Berwick, Shy Bear Brewery, and Robin Hood Brewing Company.”
Entertainment for the afternoon will be local musician Mike Connor and his wife running a German-style singalong. German linguist, musician, historian, and teacher Doug Madenford will be hosting a German trivia in the evening starting around 6 PM.
“For this event we are focusing on the beer and the food,” Vinnie explained, “so come on out and participate; these festivals are the most fun when everyone participates.”
So dust off the lederhosen and get on the road to Hyner this September 30.
“Mach’s gut!”
