JERSEY SHORE, PA – In the first game since the loss of teammate Max Engle, the Jersey Shore community united together in Thompson Street Stadium for this Monday night tilt.  Pregame activities focused on the Engle family and all the support shown by the community toward the team over the past week.  A special tribute to Max was provided with field painting of his #4 at midfield and also with individual placards being given to spectators.

Once the game began, both teams started by taking a knee and delay of the game penalty on their first offensive plays, when actual game action got underway Jersey Shore’s defense led the way with 4 first quarter interceptions including a pick six by Peyton Samar at the 9:05 mark to open the scoring (Herr PAT, 7-0 JS).

The fast and furious scoring continued for the Bulldogs as defensive lineman, Kaden Walker made the second interception at the 7:35 mark to set up a short drive capped off by Tate Sechrist on a 3-yard touchdown run (PAT miss, JS 13-0).

Dathan Tyson kept up the Bulldog defensive pressure with the 3rd interception on the next Shikellamy drive.  His INT came at the 6:04 mark and set up the Bulldog offense at their own 35.  The 5 play drive was highlighted by a 30 yd hookup from QB Jerrin Loomis to Tyson for the score at the 4:31 mark (PAT miss, JS 19-0).

After a Braves punt, Tate Sechrist capped off a 5-play drive with a 24 yd run at the 2:00 mark (Herr PAT, JS 26-0).

And before the first quarter ended, Bo Sechrist snagged the 4th INT of the quarter to  set up Elijah Jordan for a 10 yard run to the corner of the end zone to extend the Jersey Shore lead to 33-0 (Herr PAT).

In the second quarter, the Bulldogs put the game away adding two scores.  The first was a 34 yard catch and run from Loomis to Ashton Sweeney at the 10:31 mark, the second on a Bo Sechrist 15 yard run with 3:13 remaining (Herr PAT following both) to extend the lead at halftime to 47-0.

The second half was played in the Mercy Rule with Jersey Shore adding 2 more scores (a Paul Hale 31 yard run in the 3rd quarter and Evan Snyder’s 54-yard run in the 4th; Herr PAT following both TDs).

Shikellamy avoided the shutout with a Brody Rebuck to Thomas Pollack 64-yard pass hookup and then a Baez 6-yd run to make the final score 61-12.

With the loss, Shikellamy falls to 1-3, Jersey Shore improves to 3-0-1.

The Braves return home to play cross river rival Selinsgrove while the Bulldogs begin a 4-game road stretch at Mifflinburg.  Both games have been moved to Saturday with times to be confirmed later this week.
