MILL HALL – The Kiwanis Club of Bald Eagle and Nittany Valleys recognized two of its members with a club award at its monthly membership meeting on January 21, 2015. Club President-Elect Matt Wise (left) and Membership Committee chairperson Grace Keller (right) presented the Caring and Responsible Person (C.A.R.P.) award to club members Bridget Motel and Phil Taormina. The C.A.R.P. award recognizes members who display exceptional effort in promoting club fellowship and working on community and youth projects. Bridget energetically supports all club activities and is co-chair of the club’s committee to raise funds for Project Eliminate, a joint Kiwanis International/UNICEF effort to rid developing nations of the maternal neo-natal tetanus disease. Phil, also well known locally as balloon artist “Mr. T.,” was recognized for entertaining young people at many of the club’s community service events. Coincidentally, January 21 was the 100th anniversary of the founding of Kiwanis in Detroit, Michigan. Club members celebrated the anniversary following the meeting with refreshments and a Kiwanis trivia contest.
