JERSEY SHORE, PA – Lewisburg came into Thompson Street Stadium in Jersey Shore off an exciting 16-13 overtime win on the road vs. Shamokin. Cohen Hoover scored all his team’s points with 3 field goals, a PAT and a 73 yard touchdown run on a fake punt, so he and his Green Dragon teammates entered week #2 of this season with some confidence.
Jersey Shore received the initial kickoff and using the ‘fast car’ tempo got off on a 6-play drive capped off by a Tate Sechrist run (PAT missed) for an early 6-0 lead.
The Bulldogs added 2 scores in the second quarter, a 1-yard sneak by QB Loomis and a 6-yard run by Tate Sechrist to pad the lead to 18-0 at the half.
The second half belonged to Jersey Shore as the Bulldogs tagged on 14 points in the 3rd quarter and added 3 more scores in the 4th to roll to the final score of 53-0.
Elijah Jordan led the Jersey Shore rushing attack with 19 carries for 160 yards and 1 touchdown. Tate Sechrist added 22 carries for 100 yards and lit up the scoring column with 4 TDS. Through the air, Loomis was 10 of 17 for 135 yards and 1 TD (15 yards to Samar) with 1 interception.
The Bulldog defense was very strong again against the running game of Lewisburg led by Bo Sechrist and Payton Samar each with over 5 individual tackles and multiple tackles for loss by the unit. Dathan Tyson added his first interception of the season.
With the loss, Lewisburg evens its record at 1-1. Jersey Shore improves to 2-0 and extends its regular season winning streak to 31 consecutive games. The Bulldogs head back on the road next week, traveling to Selinsgrove to take on the 2-0 Seals in what has become a heated annual rivalry.
