Fitness court announced for Lock Haven’s Hanna Park
LOCK HAVEN, PA – Lock Haven’s Hanna Park is due for renovations and the improvements are to include the city’s first outdoor fitness court studio.
City Planner Abbey Roberts announced project details on Friday. She said, “The City of Lock Haven is excited to transform Hanna Park into a place for community fitness and well-being with your help! Lock Haven has been awarded a National Fitness Campaign (NFC) Fitness Court Studio, providing the city with new facilities to support healthy lifestyles.”
She said the Fitness Court Studio offers an outdoor gym and an open exercise area built into the court. The gym has seven stations (core, squat, push, lunge, pull, bend, and agility) for all abilities. The open area is a space to hold outdoor fitness groups, yoga classes, and more. In total, the court stretches 38’x76’ and provides access to exercise for people of all ages and fitness levels, helping to create a healthy and active community.
The city planner said to help make this project a reality, the City of Lock Haven has set a funding goal of $200,000. These funds will be used for the construction, installation, and maintenance of the Fitness Court Studio, as well as other improvements to the park. The city encourages community members, local businesses, and organizations to contribute to this project. The top five contributors will have the opportunity for recognition directly on the fitness court wall. All other contributors will be recognized by signage on the site. Every donation is one step closer to bringing this unique fitness amenity to Lock Haven.
According to planner Roberts, the entirety of Hanna Park will be renovated with the Fitness Court Studio being just one of the new amenities. City Staff invites all residents, businesses, and visitors to respond to a public survey on the Lock Haven Civil Space. The survey is open until November 2023 and is available here: https://lockhavenpa.civilspace.io/en/projects/hanna-park.
