Penn State Extension Master Gardener Program Accepting Applications
Penn State Extension in Clinton County is now accepting applications for the 2024 Penn State Extension Master Gardener program. This program consists of a volunteer training course designed to provide experienced home gardeners with information and skills necessary to share their experience and knowledge with others. Weekly classes will be held from the beginning of October 2023 to the end of March 21, 2024.
Master Gardener Trainees will receive 60 hours of hybrid instruction, both in-person and online. During the first year, Master Gardener trainees must agree to volunteer 50 hours to Penn State Cooperative Extension. Areas to volunteer include monthly meetings, Holiday Greens, plant sales, Garden Sense Symposium, hotline, speaker’s bureau, writing articles for The Express and the Renovo Record, and the Clinton County Fair, just to name a few of our main support to the horticultural community. After the first year of volunteering, Master Gardeners are required to complete 20 volunteer hours and 10 continuing education hours each year to maintain Master Gardener status.
There is a program fee to cover the cost of training materials and expenses. Financial aid is available upon request. Applications are being accepted through October 1, 2023.
