Wildcat tennis shuts out Williamsport, 5-0
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP, PA – Central Mountain tennis continued its recent surge with a 5-0 home court win over Williamsport on Thursday.
#1 David Lindsay, just a day off his third District 6 title earned on Wednesday, paced the Wildcats with a 6-0, 6-0 win to start a perfect day for Coach Jeff Brinker’s team.
The key points of the match were when Joe McCluskey in singles Doubles 2 battled back from an early deficit and created an opportunity to play for a tie-breaker in the first set. After creating the chance to play for the first set, both teams battled back and forth and came out with a big first-set victory. The number 1 doubles dropped the first set and then got things rolling with a 6-0, 6-1 victory in the second and third sets.
Meanwhile, Asher Talbot played with poise and purpose from beginning to end and won a solid match. s.
The Wildcats are now 8-5 on the season and will finish the regular season at Selinsgrove, a double-header set for Monday.
