Bucktail Medical Center health fair and corporate meeting set for April
SOUTH RENOVO, PA – Bucktail Medical Center has announced plans for a combination health fair/annual corporate meeting for later in April.
The announcement of the Monday, April 17 event was made by BMC administrator/chief executive officer Tim Reeves. He said there were not enough voting members present for the annual corporate meeting scheduled for earlier this week, so it was decided to combine that meeting with a health fair:
“With numerous changes to healthcare services in Clinton County, BMC is holding a Healthcare Fair at the facility on April 17, 2023, from 4 to 7 p.m. Each department will highlight both inpatient and outpatient services offered.
“We will provide an update on the current USDA project which includes a new ambulance, roof replacement over the acute wing, repair to 4 rooms in the acute wing, replacement of heating plant, and replacement of some water piping.
“Over the past year, we have worked with department managers, administration, and architects to create a facility that can meet the needs of our communities over the next twenty years. This master plan reorganizes the use of space inside the facility, expands our Emergency Department, provides larger space for medical laboratory and brings CT services inside the building. All outpatient services, including the community clinic, will be centrally located inside the hospital. Space for long term care will be anchored by the resident dining room and activities room, and acute patient rooms will be upgraded to single rooms with full private baths. This Master Plan for the facility will be unveiled during the open house. While CT is included in the Master Plan, we see the importance of having CT on site as quickly as possible, so we are working to have a mobile CT on campus in early summer.
“In addition to CT services, BMC will be adding outpatient nursing services which may include infusion, transfusion, and respiratory therapy.
“Unfortunately, the annual corporate meeting scheduled for April 03, 2023, could not be convened because there were not enough corporate members present to call the meeting to order. Therefore, we have rescheduled the annual corporate meeting for this same date, April 17, 2023.
“The schedule for the Health Fair and Corporate Meeting is as follows:
• 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm Health Fair
• 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm Voting for open Board seats
• 6:15 pm – 6:30 pm Review of the current $1 M USDA grant project
• 6:30 pm – 7:00 pm Review of facility Master Plan
• 7:00 pm Voting concludes and ballots are counted
• 7:00 pm – 7:30 pm Annual Corporate Meeting with updates on hospital
activities over the past year.
• 7:30 pm Operating Boards Reorganization meeting
“The Board of Directors, administration, and staff of the medical center have been very busy over the past year, and we are making significant progress toward creating a facility that will meet your medical needs for years to come. We still face many hurdles, including financial challenges; but it is imperative that we continue moving forward to achieve these goals. Recent events – hospital closures and changes to ambulance services – make the path forward more arduous, but they also emphasize the importance of the master plan and the need for BMC to succeed and survive.
“Please join us on April 17, 2023, to understand all of the services the medical center provides, to learn about grants we have obtained and grants we are working toward, to review the master plan, and to elect your representation on the Board of Directors.
“The Health Fair and informational presentations are open to the public. Voting and the Annual Corporate meeting are open to all corporate members in good standing. Not a corporate member or need to renew your membership? Annual memberships are just $15.00 for residents of Western Clinton County and employees of the medical center; lifetime memberships only $500.00 and have no geographic restrictions. You can purchase your membership through Tina Schoonover at (570) 531-6176 or visit the medical center administrative offices.”
