Bellefonte High School and Middle School on lockdown after threat
BELLEFONTE, PA – The Centre Daily Times is reporting that Bellefonte High School and Middle School are on lockdown after police notified the school district Wednesday morning.
According to the CDT, Rockview state police said Bellefonte Area High School was among schools to receive what police believe was a computer generated swatting call that threatened a shooting.
As of 10 a.m., police from Bellefonte, Patton Township, Penn State, the Spring Township police and the Centre County Sheriff’s Office had responded. The Centre County paper said police have the building closed. The high school is on lockdown and police are clearing the building, according to an email from Bellefonte Area Middle School principal Sommer Garman to parents. As a precaution, she wrote, the middle school has gone on a Level 2 lockdown, meaning students and teachers are staying inside classrooms while police clear the building.
