Central Mountain boys, tennis opens with a win
BALD EAGLE TOWNSIHP, PA – The Central Mountain boys tennis team started out winning four out of the five first sets of the match in a 4-1 season opening win on Thursday over visiting East Juniata.
It was freshman Joe McCloskey and senior Jackson Proctor first singles varsity match. They played well within themselves and came away with two solid wins. Asher Talbot played a tough opponent and controlled the game from the start to the finish.
Meanwhile, in doubles action, Nick Piergallini and Joe Caimi battled for a close win in the first set, took control early in the second, and never let their opponents back in the match. Freshman Tim Brinker and junior Wyatt Gallagher played the first varsity match of their career. It was a close first set but to no avail, they came up short.
