HARRISBURG – State Rep. Mike Hanna, D-Clinton/Centre, was sworn in today to his 13th term in the House of Representatives, where he will continue to serve as Democratic Whip, second in command in the House Democratic Caucus.

“I’m looking forward to working with Democrats, Republicans and Governor-elect Tom Wolf to forge a fresh start in Pennsylvania,” Hanna said. “It’s no secret that the commonwealth was left a fiscal mess, and fixing it will be the priority.”

Hanna’s colleagues elected him to a third two-year term as Democratic Whip in November. As Whip, he assists party leaders in coordinating the caucus in its responses to legislation and other matters.

“I will be relentless in seeking solutions to problems and issues affecting the 76th Legislative District and all of Pennsylvania,” said Hanna, who said he will be focusing on sound fiscal policies, state and local tax reform, education and agricultural and rural issues as the General Assembly’s two-year session evolves.

“Everyone is geared to getting Pennsylvania out of its rut and moving forward,” said Hanna, after participating in the swearing-in ceremony at the state Capitol that marked the start of the 2015-16 legislative session.

Hanna has served in the state legislature since 1991. He is a graduate of Lock Haven High School, Lock Haven University and earned his law degree from the University of Pittsburgh.

He serves on the board of governors for the 14-school State System of Higher Education, and is a past member of the board of directors of the Center for Rural Pennsylvania.

Hanna previously served as chair of the House Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee and also has served on the House Game and Fisheries Committee. He remains an active member of the Central Pennsylvania, Firefighter’s, Rural and Timber caucuses.
