LH Men’s Track & Field Impressive at Pioneer Fast Trax Invitational

UTICA, NY – The Lock Haven men’s indoor track and field team took on the Pioneer Fast Trax Invitational today, and a number of Bald Eagles put up Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying marks and strong times on Saturday afternoon in New York.

The Bald Eagles shining performance came in the 800-meters as Ryan Miller (Bradford, Pa./Bradford) took first place with a time of 1:55.94, followed closely by Matthew Muthler (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) in third at 1:58.79, and Morgan Gavitt (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville) placing fourth with a time of 1:59.09. All three Bald Eagles came in under the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying time in a sensational race for The Haven.

Austin Kravetz (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) and Matthew Reinard (Camp Hill, Pa./Cumberland Valley) also put on a strong show for LHU and took one and two in the 60-meter hurdles turning in blazing times of 8:69 and 8.78, respectively. Both times were also good for conference marks.

In the field events, Kevin Taylor (Bellefonte, Pa./Erie County Home Schoolers) took first place in the pole vault hitting a mark of 13’5”.

Michael Lawrence (Blakeslee, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) also had a solid showing taking second in the triple jump 42’10” and 20’9” in the long jump for third place. His mark in the triple jump hit a PSAC qualifying mark and he narrowly missed in the long jump.

Noah Shedden (Canton, Pa./North Penn – Liberty) placed second with a time of 16:10.56 in the 5,000 meters.

A trio of Bald Eagles notched third-place finishes as Jimmy Pombor (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) took third in the 60 meters with a time of 7.17. Kylie Scott-Harper (Chester, Pa./Chester) also grabbed third in the 400m clocking in at 52.54, Aydan Summers (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) rounded things out in the 600 meters with a time of 1:26.32.

Austin Melius (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte) narrowly missed a qualifying time in the mile turning in a time of 4:33.66.

In the relays, the men’s 4×400 team of Muthler, Reinard, Miller and Scott-Harper laid down a time of 3:28.8 to take the crown.

The Haven gets back on the track tomorrow when a group of throwers heads to the DeSchriver Invitational in East Stroudsburg, Pa. Action gets underway at 9:30 a.m.
