LH Men’s Track & Field Turns in Strong Effort, Records PSAC Marks

LOCK HAVEN, PA – The Lock Haven University men’s indoor track and field team was in action yesterday (Friday, Jan. 27) and today (Saturday, 28), and the Bald Eagles turned in a number of strong individual efforts.

Ryan Miller (Bradford, Pa./Bradford) led the way for Lock Haven today (Sat.) at the Penn State National Open.

The Bald Eagles opened the weekend Friday (Jan. 27) at the Bucknell Bison Open with several impressive individual efforts that led to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championship qualifying marks.

Ethan Rogers (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) finished fourth overall in Friday’s 5,000-meter run at Bucknell with a PSAC mark of 15:51.55.

On Friday, Austin Kravetz (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) and Matt Reinard (Camp Hill, Pa./Cumberland Valley) once again stood out for Lock Haven in the 60-meter hurdles. Kravetz was fourth in the finals with a time of 8:52 and Reinard was seventh in the finals with a time of 8.68. Kravetz and Reinard ran 8.62 and 8.71, respectively in the prelims. All four marks dipped under the PSAC championship standard.

Miller headlined The Haven’s Saturday effort with a tremendous showing at 400 meters while competing among an elite field at the Penn State National Open. Miller ran a season-best 49.18 in the 400 and finished fifth of 20-plus athletes. He was the top Division II finisher and Miller’s time today of 49.18 is the best mark in the PSAC this season.

Lock Haven also added PSAC marks on Saturday in a return to action at the two-day Bucknell Bison Open.

Andrew Wehrle (Punxsutawney, Pa./ Punxsutawney) and Tanner Walter (New Columbia, Pa./Milton) opened the day with PSAC marks in the mile. Wehrle was 11th with a time of 4:27.75 and Walter was 13th with a time of 4:28.06.

Wehrle and Walter both returned after the mile with continued success. Wehrle was third in the 500-meter run with a time of 1:10.92 and Walter was second at 1,000 meters with a time of 2:39.46. Evan Klinger (Riverside, Pa./Danville) added a sixth-place finish in the 1,000-meter event (2:43.52).

Lock Haven will return to action next week it what looks to be another busy weekend of competition at a pair of meets. The Bald Eagles will compete on Saturday, Feb. 4 at the Utica Pioneer Fast Trax Invitational and the team is scheduled to compete on Sunday, Feb. 5 at East Stroudsburg’s DeSchriver Invitational.
