High Powered Sullivan County cruises past Bucktail boys, 75-26

By Bees O’Brien

LAPORTE, PA- Sullivan County is one of the PIAA District IV 1A favorites to capture the district crown and they completed a solid week by cruising past Bucktail in a cross Divisional Mid Penn Conference contest.

The Griffins would flex their muscles against an undersized and outmanned Bucktail team on Saturday afternoon. They would use a huge 43-16 first half to quickly send the game into the mercy rule.

Sullivan County would keep the pressure on Bucktail in the second half and used a 19-4 third quarter advantage and another big 13-6 fourth quarter to round out the scoring and set the final at 75-26.

Brody Pentz recorded his second double-double of the week by scoring 10 points and grabbing 10 rebounds to lead the Bucks in both categories. Will Steele netted 5 points for the Bucks and Johnny Green added 3. Brett Mason, Kyler Friese, Talan Ditty and Ethan Kalafut all chipped in two points each in the loss.

Riley King and Devin Finnegan each paced Sullivan with 16 points. Ben Carpenter added 12 for the 8-5 Griffins. The Bucks dropped to 2-6 on the season.

Bucktail will return to the friendly confines of Farwell on Tuesday to host Benton (0-9). Bucktail owns a 60-41 victory over the Tigers back in December. Varsity tip is set for 7:30 p.m. and the game will be broadcast by The Record Online.
