CM Girls Getting Closer
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP—The Central Mountain girls basketball team is still chasing that elusive first win and getting closer.
The Lady Wildcats had themselves a 10 point lead midway through the final quarter at home against Shamokin Tuesday night. But a late 14-2 run by the Lady Indians, including a buzzer beater at the end, sent Shamokin home with a 44-42 win.
Central Mountain led virtually the entire game, 27-19 at halftime and 35-26 after three. But a final quarter 18-7 split for the visitors earned Shamokin the win. Mary Monoski led CM with 14 points, followed by Katie Parks with 12.
The Lady Wildcats are to travel to Danville Wednesday night, then host Selinsgrove Saturday night and Jersey Shore next Monday to finish up pre-holiday action.
Central Mountain is scheduled to compete in the Montoursville Holiday tournament Friday and Saturday, Dec. 26 and 27.
