BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP, PA  – Several student and financial programs and initiatives in the Keystone Central School District were discussed at the school board’s work session Thursday night.

Superintendent Dr. Jacquelyn Martin highlighted several programs during her report, including the Department of Energy’s 2022 Funding Opportunities for Energy Improvements at Public K-12 School Facilities through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law – Renew America’s Schools.

“While very competitive, $500 million will be given in grant funds for a period of five years from 2022 to 2028,” Dr. Martin said. “There will be 20 to 100 awards given with an estimated $500,000 to $15 million per award.”
She noted the district has been working with Alyssa Wiggins with McClure and Co. toward applying for grant dollars.

Energy savings initiatives at various schools in the district were guaranteed at $152,875 compared to the measured savings of $194,578. The total difference is $41,703 more than expected.

Officials also discussed the district’s use of the BLOOM platform.

BLOOM is a web-based digital platform, designed by LEAN Frog Digital, for student behavior management, threat assessment and intervention. “BLOOM has been incredibly successful for us,” said Chad Krape, supervisor of technology.

Board members were also shown a video in honor of School Director Appreciation month. All members were present either in person or through video, except for member Tracy Smith.
