Sounds of the Season: Community donates new equipment to Bucktail drumline

FARWELL, PA – The Bucktail drumline, which is under the new leadership of music teacher Mr. Brandon Kahley, was given an early Christmas gift at their rehearsal Wednesday evening.

Due to the impending snowstorm and the postponed winter concert, Brandon Kahley and the Bucktail drumline was presented with new, matching equipment and carrying cases.

“Brandon Kahley has made such a huge impact in the Renovo community with these kids and he needed all of the backing that we as a community could give him…he is a good guy and a first year teacher,” said Mary George Rhone.

Rhone took to the internet earlier this year and located a complete set of lightly-used drums, hardware, cases, and everything needed to outfit this small but mighty drumline.

The total haul for Mr. Kahley and the Bucktail drumline consists of six snare drums, six bass drums, two quads, cases, carriers, sticks, and mallets.

“We found them online in South Dakota,” Rhone said. “I knew this would outfit the entire drumline after we learned a year ago that the current equipment was in less than desirable condition.”

“A Christmas angel, who wishes to remain anonymous, was the financier behind the purchase,” Rhone said. “The group “Friends of Bucktail Music” will raise the funds to repay the person behind the purchase of these drums, but we consider them to be a donation to Bucktail High School from the community at large.”

“Merry Christmas, Mr. Kahley and BAHS Drumline and remember – never stop believing in that Christmas magic,” Rhone said on social media Wednesday evening.
