Lady Wildcats take opener over Bellefonte, 37-22

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP, PA – The Central Mountain girls’ basketball team never trailed Monday night as they kicked off the new season with a 37-22 victory over visiting Bellefonte a win which allowed coach Scott Baker to get many of his younger players playing time.

The Lady Wildcats jumped to an 8-0 lead, led 9-2 after one and 19-9 at halftime. The game was all but over in period three when CM outscored the Raiders by a 10-0 count to put the score at 29-9 in favor of the home team.

Tara Mader led the ‘Cat attack with 17 points, followed by Taylor Doyle with 8, Kiahna Jones with 4 and 2 apiece from Danica Kelly, Macy Plowman, Ava Doyle and Jacey Tripp. Central Mountain showed they’ll need some work from the foul line, going 3-for-15. Madison Ripka and Marie Cotter led Bellefonte with 8 points each.

Central Mountain also took the jayvee, 23-20, in overtime.

The Lady Wildcats have two more home games this week, Wednesday with DuBois and Friday with Bald Eagle Area.
