Renovo Area Community Choir to perform December 4
“A Christmas Journey”
RENOVO, PA – Come join us as we “JOURNEY to Christmas”. The Renovo Area Community Choir will be presenting their seasonal concert December 4, 2022, 2 p.m. at the Seventh Street – First United Methodist Church. Under the direction of Patricia Lacy and accompanied by Diana Welshans, the choir invites you to journey with them beginning with a familiar hymn, “O Come, All Ye Faithful”, followed by the spirited, “Goin’ on Up to Bethlehem”. Reminding us of Mary’s road to the birth of her son is the selection, “Almost There”. The choir will be accompanied by Brandon Kahley and Diana Welshans with a 4 -hand piano accompaniment of “The Little Drummer Boy”. “Song of the Wisemen”, a Puerto Rican folksong, tells the story of those who traveled to seek the new born king. Closing the first half of the concert is a choir favorite, “Come, See the Baby”.
During intermission there will be a solo performance by Avery Stimpson singing “The First Noel”, a piano duet, “Greensleeves” by Kedda Bissman and Diane Tolomay, and the audience will enjoy Charly Kepler singing a medley of “The Christmas Song” and “I’ll Be Home for Christmas”.
Starting off the second half of the concert, the choir will be dashing through the snow with a fun arrangement of “Jingle Bell Dash”. You’ll hear those sleigh bells jingling as the choir performs “Sleigh Ride” followed by a rockin’ arrangement of “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town”. The traditional “Over the River” has been updated with a counter melody for the tenors and basses, as we journey to Grandmother’s House. The tender and heartfelt arrangement of “All is Calm, All is Bright” reminds us of the reason for the season ~ Christ the Savior is born. We conclude our concert with an invitation to “Go, Tell It on the Mountain”.
This year the Renovo Area Women’s Club will be hosting refreshments in the fellowship hall immediately following the concert.
A perfect way to end our “Christmas Journey”!
