Bulldogs begin playoff march with 63-12 win over Shamokin
JERSEY SHORE, PA – The Jersey Shore football team looked playoff ready in its District 4 Class 4A semifinal playoff game Friday night. The Bulldogs scored early, often, and every-which way enroute to a 63-12 win over Shamokin.
Coupled with Selinsgrove’s 30-0 win over Milton Friday night, the ‘Shore victory sets up a D-4 championship game at Jersey Shore next Friday against the Seals. The Bulldogs, now 11-0, dusted Selinsgrove by a 63-0 score on Sept. 9 when the Seals (9-2), were without a couple of their top players. Jersey Shore will be seeking a fifth straight district crown.
Friday night Jersey Shore continued its dominant season-long play, scoring on its first six possessions, along with a Tate Sechrist blocked punt return for a touchdown. It was 35-0 after one period and 49-0 by halftime. Coach Tom Gravish was able to substitute liberally in the second half, as has been the case all season for the team averaging well over 50 points a game.
Senior Kooper Peacock played a key role in ‘Shore’s 35 point opening period, catching two Brady Jordan touchdown passes and setting up several other Bulldog scores with his kickoff and punt returns. Jordan was near perfect: 5-6 passing for 120 yards and rushing 18 times for 148 yards and three touchdowns; all the senior Jordan’s yards came in the first half.
Shamokin finished the season 5-6. The Indians had been defeated by the Bulldogs, 62-0, in the regular season.
