Mountain Lions end CM boys’ soccer season
ALTOONA, PA – The Altoona boys’ soccer team hosted Central Mountain in a District 6 Class 4A playoff game Thursday night and used an overpowering first half on the way to a 7-0 win. The victory moved the Mountain Lions into the District 6 final Nov. 2 against top-seeded State College. The loss ended Central Mountain’s year at 6-11-1 as coach Billy Hooks’ team was unable to sustain its strong finish to the regular season.
The first half proved to be the difference at Mansion Park Thursday. Altoona got on the board first at the 7:31 mark when Kade Black notched the first of his three goals (to go along with two assists). The home team outshot CM by a 13-2 mark in the first half and led 5-0 at the break.
Coach Hook said he thought his team played well early, but the first Mountain Lion goal appeared to deflate his team emotionally. He complimented Altoona on its play.
Altoona is now 13-5 as it preps for top-seed State College (13-2-1). State beat Altoona by a 5-0 score in the regular season.
