LHU: Men’s Soccer ties in conference clash at Shippensburg

SHIPPENSBURG, PA – The Lock Haven men’s soccer team (5-7-5, 3-4-4 PSAC East) traveled to Shippensburg (4-6-4, 0-6-4 PSAC East) for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division contest which saw the two teams remain deadlocked, resulting in a 0-0 tie.

Lock Haven controlled much of the first half. The Bald Eagles pelted eight shots and four on target, including two from Dean Lewis (Belfast, Northern Ireland/Model Boys School) just three minutes apart of each other, but the Raiders defense held strong and were able to keep the game scoreless going into the second half.

Half two saw the same script as the Bald Eagles outshot Shippensburg once again but could not put one away.

The final ten minutes of the match saw the attacking front of the Bald Eagles push hard with Samuel Hershey (Lancaster, Pa./McCaskey), Zane Puhala (Brockway, Pa./Brockway), and Colton Swanson (Bradford, Pa./Bradford), who all tried to put an equalizer into the back of the net, but crucial saves kept the Raiders afloat to create a 0-0 tie.

Lock Haven’s offense had target practice, placing 17 shots with eight on goal, but none could find the back of the net. Along with the other four players mentioned, Otto Hull (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) delivered a shot on goal for the team.

The defense for the Bald Eagles held strong, allowing only one shot on goal throughout the match. Connor Burke (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland), Ryan Foskey (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown), and Duc Do (New Oxford, Pa./New Oxford) all helped defend the net, playing all 90 minutes on the backline.
