Second win in row for CM boys’ soccer
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP, PA – Central Mountain’s Malinak Stadium was the site Saturday morning as Tyrone visited the boys’ soccer team. Central Mountain was able to secure their second win in a row, shutting out the Golden Eagles 9-0.
Peyton Jones continued his hot streak of scoring, notching two goals and adding two assists. Freshman Griffin Confer and junior Asher Talbot both provided a goal and assist of their own. Talbot’s coming with his head, placing a corner kick into the back of the net.
Junior Jack Grieco and freshman Dylan Bechdel each scored in the second half, both being their second goals of the season. Grieco scored a laser from outside the box, firmly placed in the side net. Bechdel was able to chip the keeper from just a few yards out.
Junior Pierce Long scored his first goal of the season, an outside shot placed far post and over the extended arms of the goalie. The goal was Long’s second of his young career.
Sophomores Max Verrelli and Isaiah Brinker both scored their first career varsity goals in the second half. Brinker on a free kick, and Verrelli finishing a cross.
Junior Colby Bakaj and sophomore Lincoln Breon both provided two assists of their own.
Kyle Stahl and Jaggar Pardoe split duties in goal for the shutout. Stahl making one save in the first half, and Pardoe making two in the second half.
CM is now 4-9-1 as they push for a repeat district playoff appearance. They host three home games this week, beginning with Mifflinburg on Tuesday at 7 p.m., Wednesday with Midd-West and Thursday with St Marys.
