CM Hosts Lady Braves (Video Report)
Lady ‘Cats Come Up Short Losing 39-33
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – Central Mountain was eager to get back in action for their home opener of the 2014-15 season with the Lady Braves of Shikellamy.
Both teams began the game struggling to score offensively. Both squads had a bit of trouble settling in to a rhythm with neither team breaking double digits in the first quarter, though Central Mountain had a 8-5 lead after the fist stanza.
CM held onto their slim lead through the second quarter for a 19-15 lead at intermission.
In the third quarter, Both teams seemed to pick up their pace a bit more though both squads struggled with turnovers and missed opportunities. Shikellamy finally managed to outpace Central Mountain 11-6 in the third to for a one point advantage at 21-20 heading into the final period.
The Lady Braves slowly built upon that margin then stifled the Lady ‘Cats with bit of “keep away” while burning the clock forcing CM into fouling for clock preservation.
Unfortunately for CM, Shik began to convert from the line where they struggled with foul shots earlier in the game. In the end, this was the difference3 as The Lady Braves were able to keep the game just out of reach finishing out at 39-33.
On the night, Mary Monoski netted 12 points for Central Mountain followed by Grayson McCloy with 10. Lydia McCaleb contributed five points while While Elaina Eckley scored four and Averie Pringle netted 2.
Next up for the Lady Wildcats is a road trip to Mid-West on Saturday.
