Shikellamy downs CM boys soccer, 5-1
SUNBURY, PA – The Central Mountain boys’ soccer team went on the road and fell to PHAC opponent Shikellamy 5-1 on Wednesday night.
Down early 1-0, CM tied it up as junior Peyton Jones played a through ball to freshman Dylan Bechdel, who would score his first career varsity goal. Wildcat coach Billy Hook noted Bechdel has really come on as of late, and making an impact like this is much needed. The coach said Jones played well all night on the attack, creating chances and trying to spark the Wildcat offense.
A few miscues in the defensive third left the Wildcats behind though, as Shikellamy would take advantage and score three second half goals.
Coach Hook said some younger players are getting valuable experience: “Youth has been exciting in this time of injury and struggles. Freshman Griffin Confer has continued to impress. Getting increased varsity time alongside Bechdel is freshman Cole Cooper, who has found himself in multiple positions in the last few games and seems to do the job no matter where he is.” Freshman Jaggar Pardoe also found himself getting time on Wednesday night, playing the last 20 minutes in goal, giving up zero goals and making three saves.
CM will try to get the ship righted as they start to play some non-conference games, with District 6 foe Mifflin County coming to Malinak Stadium on Friday night.
