Bucktail tennis runs over Muncy, showdown with ‘Shore next week

By Bees O’Brien

FARWELL, PA- Bucktail tennis continued their impressive 2022 season on Monday with a 5-0 sweep of visiting Muncy. It was the Lady Bucks second victory over the Lady Indians and has them closing in on a Mid Penn Conference outright championship.

The win, combined with a Jersey Shore 3-2 loss to Central Mountain has Bucktail climbing up the ever-changing PIAA District IV 2A standings. As of this writing, Bucktail (12-0) trails only Hughesville (13-1) in the current district power standings. Central Columbia (9-1), Jersey Shore (14-1) and Montoursville (10-3) round out the top 5.

Kayla Probert, Alexis Lowery and Bella English swept through the singles portion of the match with little trouble winning in straight sets. Eva Sockman and Gigi Balchun kept things rolling for the Lady Bucks in doubles. Giada Demarte and Abby Miller continued the perfect outing for the Lady Bucks by winning their doubles contest.

Bucktail will try to build more power points Tuesday when they travel to 8-1 Cowanesque Valley, the NTL’s only team with a winning record. They will then be home on Wednesday to square off against NP-Liberty.

Next week the Lady Bucks will look to close in on a Mid Penn title with a road contest at St. John Neumann on Monday before a huge District IV showdown at Jersey Shore on Tuesday.
