LHU: Volleyball drops conference clash at Millersville
MILLERSVILLE, PA – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (1-13, 1-2 PSAC East) faced Millersville University (9-7, 1-2 PSAC East) in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division action on Saturday afternoon, and the Marauders picked up their first conference win of the season, 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-10).
The first set of the afternoon saw a high offensive output as both teams each collected 13 kills, including Evie Jane Rembold (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) who tallied five herself. Millersville took control late and started off the day in the lead, winning set one 25-16.
Marauders doubled their lead, winning the second set 25-19, looking to close out the afternoon. The home team capitalized on their momentum to grab the final set 25-10, securing their first conference win of the year.
LHU edged out the home team on digs, 35-32, tied them on blocks at eight, and the Marauders held only a slight 31-29 advantage in kills on the day.
Rembold led the way for the Bald Eagles, knocking down nine kills and posting three blocks. Kelly Gaston (Centennial, Colo./Grandview) picked up 21 assists and chipped in defensively with two blocks of her own.
Defensively, freshman McKenzie Hanna (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) notched a team-high 10 digs for LHU.
