LHU: Women’s Soccer falls to No. 22 Bloomsburg
BLOOMSBURG, PA – The Lock Haven University women’s soccer team (3-3-1, 1-3-1 PSAC East) took on No. 22 Bloomsburg University (7-1, 5-1 PSAC East) in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division action on Saturday afternoon. The nationally ranked Huskies defended their home turf and took home the victory 2-0.
The match featured two of the top ten teams in the Atlantic Regional poll as the Huskies sat at No. 3 and the Bald Eagles at No. 9.
The Huskies struck early in the contest, scoring both of their goals in the first ten minutes of the match, with both goals coming just 1:11 apart.
LHU crowded the opponent’s back line putting two shots on goal in the next two minutes with no luck on either. The Bald Eagles tallied six shots and three on goal in the first half.
Half number two saw great defense by both sides, not allowing the back of the net to be hit as Megan Miller (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) saved two shots on goal from the Huskies. The nationally ranked opponent held on, only allowing three shots with none on goal in the last half to win the afternoon contest, 2-0.
Josie Swartz (Mifflintown, Pa./Juniata), Eva Stoessel (Grantville, Pa./Lower Dauphin), and Evelyn Ciaccia (Fairless Hills, Pa./Pennsbury) inked the stat sheet as they combined for three shots on goal.
